About MT-1 (Melanotan 1)

Melanotan I (afamelanotide) is a linear analog of alpha-MSH that binds selectively to the MC1R receptor on melanocytes, stimulating eumelanin production. The selectivity of MT-1 is its defining trait: it lacks the MC3R/MC4R activity that gives Melanotan II its additional arousal and appetite effects.

Research covers photoprotection, pigmentation disorders, and UV-damage endpoints.

Available as a single vial or a factory-sealed kit of ten individually capped vials. Every order is packed cold with a written order confirmation and batch reference, so each vial can be traced back to its certificate of analysis.

Reported benefits in research

  • Selective MC1R activation for eumelanin production
  • Photoprotective endpoints against UV-induced damage
  • No arousal or appetite effects, unlike MT-2
  • Studied in pigmentation-disorder research models

How to use it

  1. Allow the sealed vial to reach room temperature before opening; do not open a vial that is still cold.
  2. Wipe the rubber stopper with an alcohol prep pad and let it dry.
  3. Draw the diluent volume called for in your protocol (bacteriostatic water for nearly all peptides, including GHK-Cu; dilute acetic acid water only for sequences that need a low pH, such as IGF-1 LR3) and inject it slowly against the inner glass wall of the vial.
  4. Swirl gently until fully clear — never shake, as agitation can fracture the peptide chain.
  5. Studied as a small daily dose during a loading phase, then reduced to a maintenance dose one or two times per week once the pigmentation endpoint is reached.
  6. Label the vial with the compound, concentration, and reconstitution date, then return it to refrigeration between uses.

What it’s studied for

  • Melanogenesis and pigmentation
  • UV photoprotection models
  • Melanocortin-1 receptor signaling

Recommended protocol

Research uses a low-dose daily loading phase until the pigmentation endpoint is reached, then infrequent maintenance doses.

Storage & handling

Store lyophilized vials refrigerated (2–8°C) and protected from light. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated and use within the window cited in your research protocol.

All products are sold for laboratory and research use only. Protocol information is a summary of commonly referenced research designs and is not medical advice, a prescription, or a recommendation for human consumption.
